New understanding of what protects the endothelium for vascular health
Recently, Dr. Kristine Burke was invited to present on the endothelial glycocalyx to the American Academy of Stem Cell Physicians (the AASCP). Dr. Martin Dayton, the outgoing President, is an Arterosil prescriber and very quickly saw the connection between the EGX and regenerative medicine. A lively discussion ensued, and many participants shared their excitement at finding ways to enhance their therapies with endothelial glycocalyx support.
We caught up with Dr. Sunny Kim, incoming President of the AASCP, to share some of his key learnings and his thoughts on the application of EGX support and Arterosil for regenerative medicine.
Why do you include endothelial support as part of your regenerative interventions?
Dr. Kim: "If you support endothelial function, you support healing and regeneration. You don’t have to be dependent on pharmaceutical drugs that have potential hazardous side effects… When you support the endothelial glycocalyx, you support the body’s ability to rejuvenate and regenerate through the mobilization of mesenchymal stem cells. They’re directly correlated."
Why is the endothelial glycocalyx so important?
Dr. Kim: "There’s more to vascular health than endothelial function. Understanding the biochemistry and molecular biology of endothelial health directly translates into understanding endothelial function."
What will you do differently now?
It turns out that Dr. Kim also made a personal health decision based on what he learned at the webinar - in his own words:
"Arterosil is very attractive as a natural substance with such profound, powerful, physiological effects. I use it in my practice. Being Korean American, me and my wife eat a lot of seaweed – but oftentimes we get sick of eating it, so why not take a pill made of seaweed? We’ll be taking Arterosil."
What types of patients are you most excited to use Arterosil with?
Dr. Kim: "In particular, patients with peripheral vascular disease, swollen legs, and chronic venostasis changes in the legs. Those patients often suffer from neuropathy, which is a microvascular disease in my opinion – the majority, that aren’t de-myelinating diseases. To me it makes sense to specifically target those individuals, among others."
During this global pandemic, Dr. Kim also wanted to offer words of support and encouragement to all of his fellow clinicians:
"You are making a huge impact in the lives of other people. We’re changing lives, one life at a time. Each life is precious and important. Keep up the good work."
